By Belinda Carroll, PQ Monthly Something gay, sexy and fancy is going down on NW Broadway, kids. A new club by the name of Stag. Housed in the former Tiger Bar location at 317 NW Broadway in Portland, this club will feature an upscale gentlemen’s club feel; think leather couches, dark ambiance -- a place to drink scotch or a dry martini -- while enjoying hot hot male dancers. That’s right. Stag will present some of the hottest boys in Portland, dancing the night away while you enjoy a copper-topped bar and burnished wood. (ah HEM) The owner, Jerrick Hope-Lang, says about the club and opening, “I love the idea of other gay male clubs, but I didn’t like the atmosphere. I wanted to create a space where I would like to hang out, a true gentleman’s club. I talked with a couple of dancers from another establishment and the idea came about very organically.†He called up Chris Giovarelli from Christopher David in the Pearl to design the interior. “Everyone we used is part of the community, that felt important to me,†he explains. They wanted to have a very masculine, Pacific Northwest feel -- a gentleman’s club-meets-hunting lodge-meets-hot boys dancing in thongs. Stag’s soft opening is set for this Friday, May 1 and it promises to melt the mustache right off your face; doors at 8 p.m. and dancers starting at 9 p.m., plus specials on their signature cocktails all night long. They'll have an official Grand Opening in June, so watch for that as well. Stag is open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., with happy hour from 3-6 daily. And don't forget to like them on Facebook for all the updates on shenanigans.
