Leslie Hall, Poison Waters, Mrs., and More! Your Beautiful Weekend
It's been a strange week--wind is knocking down power lines and trees all over our fair city, former OCA darling Scott Lively is showing up in the oddest places, and Vladimir Putin is a Nobel Peace Prize nominee. I don't know about you, but I need a drink and a dance floor--stat. Here's how our weekend's looking (chances are my wish will be granted): Thursday Caravan of Glam, Portland edition: Your favorite traveling troupe is back home and ready to paint the town queer. Says organizers: "Portland's own traveling queer cabaret featuring drag, singers, acrobatics, dancing, burlesque--and more--returns to Star Theater. All your favorite over-the-top-dominating divas are back to throw it down again." Featuring: Ecstacy Inferno, Angelique DeVil, Isaiah Tillman Esquire, Artemis Chase--and many more. Check out the invite. It's like that. Benefits Peacock Productions. 9pm, Star, 13 NW 6th. $10. And read our first preview of the Caravan right here. Dirt Bag (Birth Bag). Happy birthday, Bruce LaBruiser! One of our very favorites celebrates her several years on the planet at her excellent monthly shindig. Dirt Bag is a monthly queer electro, house, remix jams party that happens at The Know every first Thursday. (This is not a top 40 party, though you may hear a little here and there.) It is packed, sweaty, moving fun. 10pm, The Know, 2026 NE Alberta. Free. Oh, and Portland Idol auditions conclude this evening: Friday The Caravan heads to Bend! So busy. Perhaps most importantly, The Grand Budapest Hotel opens. Maybe you should go see that. Saturday Decadence: The Roaring Twenties. Our House implores you: "Please join us for a night of Decadence as we celebrate the roaring 20’s! Our annual benefit auction, will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Portland Art Museum. The evening will include a silent auction, followed by a sensational dinner, first class entertainment, and one of the best live auctions in Portland. This year guests are invited to stay for our after party which includes DJ, dancing, intimate apparel fashion show by UnderU4Men, hosted bar & hors d’oeuvres. The Our House Annual Benefit Auction is our biggest fundraising event of the year. Your support helps us continue to provide vital services to people in our community who are living with HIV/AIDS." If you have questions about the auction please call 503-736-9276. PS: There's a dance afterwards. A special edition of Blow Pony welcomes the fabulous Leslie Hall. Pre-sale tickets are sold out, but you can get to Branx before 10pm--it's $7, $10 after. You won't wanna miss these queens, rest assured. It's also Airick X's birthday bash--so brace yourself.  Google Leslie, watch her videos, search her images, you'll realize she's pretty much everything. 9pm, Branx, 320 SE 2nd. It's also Bearracuda upstairs. (It's true, I asked. That's a lot of gay in one building.) "Bearracuda is back up at Rotture for a big night of fun and fur--the patio is open, lasers on, bears on the dance floor, and beard rubs all around. The naughtybear photo booth by Wayne Bund returns to the club. Get your shirt off and smile for the camera. $6 gets you in to the party with plenty of dancing, socializing, tasty snacks and friendly, furry guys." Deejays John Cross, Matt Stands. 9pm, Rotture, 315 SE Third. And don't forget the queen of theme! Mrs. wants to see your most private eyes. Think Dick Tracy, gumshoes, Nancy Drew, Carmen San Diego, Sherlock, detective undercover sexy spies, secret agent lover men. Your hostess, Pepper Pepper joins the dynamic duo of Ill Camino and Beyonda. Mix, mingle, dance. Love. 10pm, Mississippi Studios, 3939 N. Mississippi. Sunday It's Poison! (My favorite! Shhh.) The return of the Poison Waters & Friends Sunday Brunch Show and Film at McMenamins Pubs, Breweries & Historic Hotels Mission Theater is happening this Sunday. 21 and over--$19 includes brunch, show and film. 10:30am doors, 11am-12:30pm brunch buffet--along with the Poison Waters & Friends Show, featuring Kourtni Capree Duv, Cornel Lamont Hardiman (Karress from Eugene), Felicity Carmichaels, and Carlos Ramirez Quezada (Meesha Peru).
